Another famous American beer and something many visitors probably waited for a long time is Samual Adams crafted Boston Lager. Well, what’s the definition of craft beer? In my eyes it’s a beer produced by an independent small brewery selling it almost only locally, preferebly run as a family business and the boss checks the quality daily with passion and dedication. Boston Lager is to me more a mass production beer produced by a S&P listed company with almost 1 Billion $ revenue. Here is a nice little article about Sam Adams. Maybe I am wrong so I would be happy to see comments with your opinion
But what about the gluten concentration in Boston Lager? Here is the test result:
Beer: Samuel Adams Boston Lager
Producer: Boston Beer Company
Originating country: USA
Brewing location: USA
Bottle size: 12 oz = 0.355 l
Alcohol by volume: 5.0%
Ingredients: water, malt, hops, and yeast (internet research as ingredients are not listed on the can)
Miscellaneous: –
Test Kit: Imutest Gluten-in-Food Kit
Test result: The test result is negative. According to the instructions there should appear a clearly visible pink test spot on the left of the test area ( T ) to indicate the presence of gluten. The pink spot on the right test area ( C ) is a control spot and indicates that the extract/sample is suitable, the test has been performed correctly and all reagents are active. Even though the detection limit in this kit is very low (1-2 ppm) and the test is negative please note this is not a medical advice – please see also my facts page.

Living in Boston, I really appreciated this one. Thank you! No issues so far.

I found the following q/a on the Sam Adams web site …
https://www.samueladams.com/faq
Is Samuel Adams gluten free? /Does Samuel Adams make a gluten free beer?
Right now, we only make traditionally brewed beers, which naturally contain gluten derived from malted barley or wheat.
Steffen
Hi Cheryl, sure they contain gluten. But the level is important as I focus on low gluten in beer. Cheers Steffen

I’m a huge fan of this beer and am glad they have extended their offerings throughout the country, it’s one of the few I will actually buy and enjoy. I am highly sensitive to glutens and wheat in particular makes me really sick and I have to avoid. I have noticed over many years of drinking different beers which ones I cannot have and Sam Adams never poses any issues with me. I actually just had to google if it does indeed have any gluten in it and saw this post! Thanks for testing it thats pretty neat!
Steffen
Hi Laura,
Thanks for the kind words. And thanks for sharing your experience – this is always helpful. The personal experience is always the best, no matter what we test here.
Cheers Steffen

So this test report is from 2018. Have the measurements remained constant and is it safe to drink PORCH ROCKER if gluten sensitive/ celiac disease! I hear so much good about it!
Steffen
Hi Kathy,
No, Sam Adams has not been tested again after 2018.
Never head of Porch Rocker, is this a real beer?
Cheers Steffen

Yes, Samuel Adams Porch Rocker is an actual beer of the “Fruit and Field” beer style with which I am completely unfamiliar. It is rated “Okay” by the Beer Advocate reviewers.

It contains real lemons (probably too acidic for my tastes):

Has anyone ever tested Sam Adams Cherry Wheat? Maybe a stupid question considering wheat is in the name but just curious on amount.
