Due to a huge amount of enquiries over the contact form, post comments and directly via email I decided to also test Miller Lite despite the fact it couldn’t win the American light beer poll back in January. Thanks to all for your kind feedback.
Please note I can do a few of your wishes but not all. It is impossible for me to test all the beer you want me to test. Very often I am simply not able to get your favourite beer here in Germany but it is also a matter of costs. I also need to pay for the test kits. Please consider to purchase a 5-test kit which is around € 60 / $ 80 / £ 50 and so you pay approx. € 12 / $ 16 / £ 10 per test which is a useful investment in your health. I have listed some gluten test kit manufacturers here.
And here you go with the Miller Lite test on gluten:
Beer: Miller Lite
Producer: Miller Brewing Company
Originating country: USA
Brewing location: USA
Bottle size: 16 oz (approx. 470 ml)
Alcohol by volume: 4.2%
Ingredients: water, barley malt, hops, yeast
Miscellaneous: Ingredients listed in German as product sold in Germany
Test Kit: Imutest Gluten-in-Food Kit
Test result: There is no indication of the presence of gluten. According to the instructions there should appear a clearly visible pink test spot on the left of the test area ( T ) to indicate the presence of gluten. But this test is negative. The pink spot on the right test area ( C ) is a control spot and indicates that the extract/sample is suitable, the test has been performed correctly and all reagents are active. Even though the detection limit in this kit is very low (1-2 ppm) and the test is negative please note this is not a medical advice – please see also my facts page.

Thanks Steffen, now I can drink Miller Lite when I go cruising with Princess Cruises.
James
Just curious as I found this on another site that did gluten tests:
http://gluteninbeer.blogspot.ae/2015/02/miller-lite.html
It tested negative? Are these two different beers?
Steffen
Hi James, not sure but Miller Lite should be Miller Lite – as long as it was brewed at the same brewery. A different brewery could already mean a difference. But also the test kits use different antibodies. Many reasons can impact the test result. In doubt stay away from it when you suffer from even tiny amounts of gluten.
Cheers Steffen

This is a photo of a “gluten test result” and does not specify what it has tested. Until I see a photo of a test result proving that the “specimen” came from Miller Lite Beer, I fail to see how anyone can trust such a retort to the original study.
Steffen
@ccrider: well, why should I post a false result? I tested it also for the safety of myself. And a picture with the test sample or bottle next to the test result also wouldn’t help much only a video showing the whole process. But again, there is no need to post false results. Cheers Steffen
Jtt
Troll alert, you think he is trying to swindle people who are gluten intolerant? He spends all this time, makes a website, u srs?
Kim Cates
If I am only wheat sensitive, but not gluten sensitive (celiac), can I still drink miller lite?
Steffen
Hi Kim, Miller Lite contains just barley (malt) so it should not affect people with wheat allergies. But as usual we don’t give medical advice here. In doubt ask your doc.
Cheers Steffen
Melanie A Lee
Kim Cates, yes if you are allergic to wheat, then Gluten plays no part in your wheat allergy There are other proteins in wheat that you are allergic to. Gluten doesn’t cause allergies. Gluten attacks the small intestines because the enzyme that breaks down gluten is not working. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder, and Wheat allergy is a food allergy.

Just want you to know, you’re a fun-saver. I raise my Lite Beer by Miller to you!
Genevieve Schaack
I got veeeery sick from Miller Lite, when I’d had no reaction to Coors light. Sick enough I stopped drinking both. :/
Steffen
Sorry to hear Genevieve. If you are very sensitive and react to even small tiny amounts of gluten better stay away from barley containing beers. Cheers Steffen
